Pointing is the term given to the ‘finish’ that is between the bricks or stone used to build your house. Depending on the age of the building, the mortar used to lay the stone or brick will either be made from lime, or more recently, cement. Over time, weathering and decay will cause voids in the joints between masonry units, usually in bricks, allowing the undesirable entrance of water.
At Your Choice Home Improvements, we remove the old pointing digging deep in to the wall. We use cement or mortar used to fill the joints of brickwork or masonry, especially when added externally to a wall to improve its appearance and weatherproofing. Then we seal the wall with our transparent wall coating to protect you’re the pointing and brickwork from damage and moisture.
We can also apply the above process to your roof to protect the roof joints and timber.
